Following a period of uncertainty, ADAMA Canada has confirmed that it will continue to make its lambda-cyhalorthin (lambda-cy) products available to retailers and farmers in Canada, including Western Canada.

The company engaged in several months of consulting with various stakeholders following the federal Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA)’s ruling to re-evaluate the permitted use of the ingredient as an insecticide. The PMRA announced in April 2021 that lambda-cy products would have to be relabelled with new usage guidelines by 2023.

ADAMA has completed the relabelling of existing inventories of its Silencer and Zivata products, which have lambda-cy as an active ingredient, in time for the growing season.

As a result of the PMRA’s regulatory review, applications of lambda-cy are no longer permitted on crops destined for livestock feed.
